Introduction

This blog will be about issues with the modern American Welfare system and the injustices it causes due to the vast lack of resources for welfare programs across the United States. This blog seeks to shine a light on key issues with welfare programs all throughout this country.

I chose this issue because growing up, my father had been on welfare at many points due to job instability in his field of work. At times, we found it very difficult to gain benefits from welfare programs when my father went without employment for longer periods of time, and during short stints of needing assistance, we found it quite easy to get assistance, often with our benefits starting after my father had found a job.

There are many issues with the welfare programs in America, and many of them stem from lack of funding for key portions of the programs. This contributes to the growing issue of welfare dependency in the United States. Not having enough resources to run portions of welfare assistance programs like those that teach people necessary skills in today’s economy and even specialized skills to help people thrive in their line of work creates a gap in opportunity, further lowering the opportunities available to people already in need of assistance.
